How to play
You and three computer opponents each begin with one secret card. One card is set aside face down. On your turn, draw a card, then choose one of your two cards to play. The draw happens automatically; the played card’s effect then takes place.
Win a round by being the last player remaining, or by holding the highest-ranked card when the draw pile runs out. Tied players compare the total ranks in their discard piles; a further tie awards each tied player a token. The first to 4 tokens wins the match. If players reach 4 together, they share the win.
The previous round’s winner starts the next round (the first tied winner if needed). In your first round, you start.
Card reference — all eight roles and their counts
- 1. Guard — 5 cards
- Choose another unprotected player and guess their card’s rank, except Guard. A correct guess eliminates them.
- 2. Priest — 2 cards
- Look at another unprotected player’s card. Only you see what you learn.
- 3. Baron — 2 cards
- Compare your remaining card with another unprotected player’s card. The player with the lower rank is eliminated; a tie does nothing.
- 4. Handmaid — 2 cards
- You cannot be targeted by other players until your next turn.
- 5. Prince — 2 cards
- Choose yourself or another unprotected player. They discard their card without applying its effect (except the Princess) and draw a replacement. If the draw pile is empty, use the set-aside card.
- 6. King — 1 card
- Swap your remaining card with another unprotected player’s card.
- 7. Countess — 1 card
- You must play her if your other card is a King or Prince. Otherwise, she has no effect.
- 8. Princess — 1 card
- If you play or discard her, you are immediately eliminated from the round.
If every other remaining player is protected, Guard, Priest, Baron and King have no effect. A Prince must still target you if there is no other legal target. Eliminated players reveal and discard their remaining cards.
Keyboard and screen-reader instructions
Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move between controls. Use arrow keys within the card choices or a select list, and Enter or Space to activate buttons. Choose a card, choose a target and a guess when needed, then press “Play selected card”.
After your move, review the result, then press “Continue opponents” to run their turns. Nothing runs on a timer. Focus moves to the turn heading after each action. The table, your private notes and the full round history remain available below the controls. All information is text; color and sound are never required.
This first version plays in the current tab only. Reloading or leaving the page loses the match. Computer players do not read your secret card; their Guard guesses may be random. There is no online multiplayer in solo mode. To play with other people, choose Play online with friends.
